Wow! What a beauty! It tests as sterling silver. It is not marked, at least not that I could find with my loupe. It is slightly bent, but you can’t really tell from looking at it without really studying it. It is a very large, relatively thin piece, with exquisite embossed floral patterns. Very intricate. I personally like the old patina on it, but if you like you can definitely polish it up for a shiny look. I believe it to be quite old, based on the design. Please see photos for more details. Almost hoping this doesn’t sell so I’m forced to keep it for myself…lol. Update: Just learned more about this. Turns out, it’s a modesty plate, probably from the early 1900’s at the latest, as these fell out of fashion around the turn of the century. Originally from the Malay Peninsula in Southeast Asia.
