After I tested these beads and found that the tiny studs were sterling silver, I knew I had something very special here and needed to do some research. This is what I found: OK, so I’ve just done some research… I believe these to be antique, rare, Muslim prayer beads, likely made in Yemen, and made of black coral. Called misbaha tasbih. Some examples that are very similar are listed at over $300! They are just stunning! The beads are nearly black, but many have an almost translucent reddish tone! So unusual!
